Saul Alinksy and his busy-work projects for radical wannabes? A plain old-fashioned Venus Fly Trap. Yes, the plant that eats bugs & meat. Fragrant on the outside, but once inside, you know the drill. Some white middle-class kid with a Bill Maher-type incoherent rage against the system picks up the scent and thinks he’s found the cat’s meow. He thinks that he’s found a way to change the system without getting into trouble.

But Alinsky’s famous book, RULES FOR RADICALS, should be re-titled SPINNING YOUR WHEELS FOR CASTRATED RADICALS. For Alinsky is simply part of the system’s divide-and-conquer strategy against its opponents. Alinsky is opposed to any United Front for a March on Washington sort of thing. Alinsky’s schtick is to keep everything divided and localized. That is, don’t attack any real power centers. This usually doesn’t work which is the point. It’s a dead end for, to use a good Yiddish word, schlemiels. The recruits burn out after a year of having no impact and drift back to their private lives.

Richard Hoste is his recent review of Alinsky’s RULES FOR RADICALS in OCCIDENTAL OBSERVER drastically overstates Alinsky’s influence. Actually in the radical wannabe camp, Alinsky has been superseded for some time by the ethno-masochism of the Cult of Political Correctness and allied Crusade for Multiculturalism. Thus the new rules for radicals is to intellectually divide & pulverize people via Identity Politics instead of getting down & dirty helping poor people at the bottom spin their wheels.

But Richard Hoste–whom I enjoy reading–picks up something useful from the witch’s brew which is Alinsky’s formula. I’ll give Mr. Hoste the last word:

“One of Alinsky’s greatest insights is that change has to be cloaked in the language of tradition. Liberals who burned the American flag were fools who were more interested in striking a posture for radicalism than actually changing the world. Such actions were counterproductive and turned many people away from the left. Let this be a lesson to any White nationalists that feel the need to periodically dress up as Nazis.”
