The Leavenworth 10 are soldiers and Marines incarcerated at the US Army Disciplinary Barracks, a military prison, at Ft Leavenworth, Kansas. They are not rapists, thieves or scoundrels you’d expect to see in jail. Rather they are a group of soldiers/Marines incarcerated at Ft Leavenworth for killing members of Al-Qaeda or Iraqi insurgents.

These decorated and committed soldiers/Marines who honorably served their country–achieving a significant number of combat medals over multiple deployments–are now serving sentences ranging between 10 and 40 years.

They and their families have fallen victim to the untenable Rules of Engagement, demoralizing “Catch and Release” policies, and the climate of political correctness that govern our troops’ actions while trying to survive a combat zone.

Moreover, remember that a unanimous verdict is not necessary in a military court martial. A two thirds vote can send you up the river.

Also keep in mind that we’re in the era of 4th Generation Warfare. There are no front lines, enemy soldiers wearing uniforms, clear distinctions between combatant and civilian or an enemy that even pays lip service to Geneva Convention protocols.

While these soldiers/Marines have been judged very harshly by the military, our military leadership is currently releasing imprisoned enemy combatants back to the battlefield.

We request the same mercy for these troops.
